Agenda and minutes

The Minutes of Meeting of Environment, Climate Action and Agriculture Strategic Policy Committee held on 15^th November 2023 were proposed by Councillor Justin Warnock, seconded by Councillor Paddy Farrell.

There were no matters arising from the Minutes.

Mr. Vincent Dwyer, Head of Finance, advised the meeting on an assessment taking place of all Rescue Equipment under the control of Leitrim County Council. Water Safety Irelands Water Safety Guidance Notes agreed with the LGMA were outlined to the member.

Mr Fintan Coyle gave an update on the progress of the Draft Climate Action Plan to the meeting.  The Draft Plan is available for inspection in libraries around the county.  To date two submissions for Community Climate Action funding have been received. 

Mr Vincent Dwyer gave an update to the member on the Fire Services. 

Finian Joyce, Chief Fire Officer and James Malone, Senior Fire Officer retired in 2023.

Conor Lynch is currently Acting Chief Fire Office and Nathan Cregg is Acting Senior Assistant Chief Fire Officer.

A Major Emergency Training Exercise took place at St Patricks Hospital in Carrick on Shannon in December 2023.

Following the recent agreement in the WRC a recruitment drive will commencing in 2024 to recruit fifteen new fire service personnel for Co. Leitrim.

The next meeting to be scheduled in 2024.
