Election of Cathaoirleach

Minutes:

The outgoing Cathaoirleach, Councillor Sean McDermott welcomed all to the meeting.  He expressed his sincere thanks to the staff of Leitrim County Council, Leas Cathaoirleach of Manorhamilton Municipal District, fellow councillors and the press/media for their assistance and support during his term.

 

The Members congratulated Councillor Sean McDermott for the fair and impartial manner in which he conducted his role as Chairperson of Manorhamilton Municipal District.

 

Ms. Samatha Healy, A/Director of Services, thanked Councillor Sean McDermott for his support to the executive in his role as Cathaoirleach of Manorhamilton MD.

 

Councillor Sean McDermott proceeded to deal with the first item on the agenda of the Annual Meeting of Manorhamilton Municipal District and invited nominations for the position of Cathaoirleach of Manorhamilton Municipal District.

 

Councillor Felim Gurn proposed that Councillor Justin Warnock be elected Cathaoirleach of the Manorhamilton Municipal District for the term 2021/2022.  This was seconded by Councillor Sean McDermott.

 

Proposed by Councillor Felim Gurn, seconded by Sean McDermott.

 

“That Councillor Justin Warnock be elected Cathaoirleach of the Manorhamilton Municipal District for the term 2021/2022.”

 

Councillor Sean McDermott deemed Councillor Justin Warnock elected as Chairperson of Manorhamilton Municipal District for the term 2021/2022.

 

On assuming the role of Cathaoirleach Justin Warnock thanked his proposer and seconder. The Members congratulated Councillor Justin Warnock and wished him well in his role as Cathaoirleach of Manorhamilton Municipal District.

Election of Leas-Cathaoirleach

Minutes:

Councillor Justin Warnock invited nominations for the position of Leas-Cathaoirleach.

 

Councillor Sean McDermott proposed the nomination of Councillor Frank Dolan as Leas-Cathaoirleach of Manorhamilton Municipal District. This was seconded by Councillor Justin Warnock.

 

Proposed by Councillor Sean McDermott, seconded by Councillor Justin Warnock.

 

“That Councillor Frank Dolan be elected Leas Cathaoirleach of the Manorhamilton Municipal District for the term 2021/2022.”

 

Councillor Justin Warnock deemed Councillor Frank Dolan elected as Leas-Cathaoirleach of Manorhamilton Municipal District for the term 2021/2022. 

 

Councillor Frank Dolan thanked his proposer and seconder.

MMD.79.21

To agree dates and times for Schedule of meetings of Manorhamilton Municipal District

Minutes:

Ms. Samantha Healy, A/Director of Services outlined that it is a matter for Manorhamilton Municipal District Members to decide on the date and time of their meetings and the fixing of dates and times for meetings of Leitrim County Council would be discussed and agreed at the Annual Meeting. 

 

Proposed by Councillor Padraig Fallon, seconded by Councillor Sean McDermott AND UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED:

 

“That the meetings of Manorhamilton MD take place on the 3rd Monday of every Month at 2.30 pm”.

 

The Members expressed their desire that Municipal District Meetings would resume in person as soon as possible.

MMD.80.21

Any other matters relevant to an Annual Meeting of the Manorhamilton Municipal District Meeting

Minutes:

Cllr Sean McDermott congratulated the Manorhamilton/Glencar Ladies football team on winning the Intermediate Connacht Title. All members supported the vote of congratulations.

 

Cllr Justin Warnock congratulated Caitriona Bergin for her win on The Big DIY Challenge for creating a multifunctional outdoor room from a former shipping container. All members supported the vote of congratulations.

 

Cllr Padraig Fallon and Cllr Felim Gurn congratulated Dean Clancy for winning a medal at the European Under 22 Boxing Championships. All members supported the vote of congratulations.

 

Cllr Justin Warnock stated that he wished to see the new County Council Building in Manorhamilton operating as soon as feasible and that there is a demand for remote working hubs throughout North Leitrim. Cllr Sean McDermott referred to depopulation in towns and villages within North Leitrim and the potential of remote working to attract people to live in rural towns and villages.

 

Cllr Felim Gurn stated that there needs to be improvements to the availability of women’s sports for viewing, outlining the difficulties viewing the Women’s Intermediate Connacht Title.
