Notice of Motions

5.

Motion from Councillor Enda McGloin:

There are serious concerns regarding the speed of traffic along the R209 at Kilclare and at Kiltubrid (from St Bridget’s Church of Ireland to Leitrim Hill stretch).  I know this is mainly an issue for Gardai and the JPC, however it is important that we review the issue of signage, speed, slow down signals and the current speed limits and decide how we (as Elected Representatives) and the Executive can bring forward measures to reduce speed and improve road safety along these stretches of the R209.

6.

Motion from Councillor Enda McGloin:

I ask Ballinamore Municipal District to consider widening the L3385 from Foleys down to the Kilclare junction. Perhaps piping the ditch would enable these works as the traffic on this stretch is increasing year on year.

7.

Motion from Councillor Caillian Ellis:

I will ask Ballinamore Municipal District when do they intend to carry out the works on the L1551 in the townland of Cornafostra, Fenagh.

8.

Motion from Councillor Caillian Ellis:

I will ask Ballinamore Municipal District for an update on Public Lighting in the Dún na Estate in Ballinamore.

9.

Motion from Councillor Paddy O'Rourke:

I ask Ballinamore Municipal District what measures, in addition to the existing signage and speed monitoring can be put in place on the approach road from both directions at Drumeela National School to slow down the traffic which continues to threaten the safety of those coming and going to the school.  Only recently we had an incident where a truck, coming from the direction of the Catholic Church, shaved the mirror off a car which was parked well in on the school side, whilst in an effort to avoid an oncoming vehicle which was travelling equally at an inappropriate speed.

10.

Motion from Councillor Paddy O'Rourke:

I ask that Ballinamore Municipal District carry out the necessary drainage and road repairs on road LS5595-0 and LS5597-0 in the townland of Drumkeelwick and Cullies.  This road which serves many families has deteriorated severely over the recent winter.

11.

Motion from Councillor Brendan Barry:

I request that Ballinamore Municipal District carry out traffic calming works in Kilclare, beside the post office and the Sheemore Inn.  There have been accidents at these locations and the road needs to be made safer.

12.

Motion from Councillor Brendan Barry:

I request that Ballinamore Municipal District carry out upgrades and enhancements to the playground in Dristernan, Hilly Road, Drumshanbo for the many children who live in the area.

13.

Motion from Councillor Gerry Dolan:

I call on Ballinamore Municipal District to detail the timeframe for which works are proposed for the Slievenakilla Road, from what’s known as Gilraine’s Bridge up towards Slievenakilla.  After lobbying for many years I hope to see the works done promptly.

14.

Motion from Councillor Gerry Dolan:

I call on the Minister for Agriculture to provide a scheme to help livestock farmers during the current crisis. While I welcome the introduction of the Fodder Transport Support Scheme it really doesn’t go far enough, especially for farmers in this area. Something akin to the previous Fodder Support Scheme or Meal Vouchers would be of far greater benefit to farmers.
