Election of Cathaoirleach

Minutes:

The outgoing Cathaoirleach, Councillor Paddy O’Rourke addressed the meeting and   expressed his sincere thanks to the Members, Staff and the Media for all their co-operation over the past 12 months.

 

The Members congratulated and thanked Councillor Paddy O’Rourke  for the fair and impartial manner in which he conducted his role as Chairperson of Ballinamore Municipal District.

 

Councillor Paddy O’Rourke proceeded to deal with the first item on the agenda of the Annual Meeting of Ballinamore Municipal District and invited nominations for the Election of Cathaoirleach of Ballinamore Municipal District.

 

Councillor Enda McGloin proposed that Councillor Ita Reynolds Flynn be elected  Cathaoirleach of the Ballinamore Municipal District for the term 2020/2021.  This was seconded by Councillor Caillian Ellis.

 

Councillor Paddy O’Rourke  invited any other proposal for the Election of Chairperson, for Ballinamore Municipal District and no counter-proposal was proposed. Councillor Paddy O’Rourke  deemed Councillor Ita Reynolds Flynn elected as Chairperson of Ballinamore Municipal District for the term 2020/2021

 

Proposed by Councillor Enda McGloin seconded by Councillor Caillian Ellis;

 

“That Councillor Ita Reynolds Flynn be elected Cathaoirleach of the Ballinamore  Municipal District for the term 2020/2021.”

 

On taking the role of Cathaoirleach Ita Reynolds Flynn thanked her proposer and seconder for the position. She acknowledged the challenging and the troubling times and hoped good things would come from this pandemic.  Councillor Ita Reynolds Flynn paid sympathy to all the families who have lost family members due to COVID 19 and she noted one off rural houses is one of her most important issues.  Councillor Reynolds Flynn paid tribute to the staff of Leitrim County Council and her fellow Councillors for all their advice and help since she has been elected to Leitrim County Council.

 

 

Councillor Ita Reynolds Flynn moved to the next item on the agenda to elect the Leas-Cathaoirleach of Ballinamore Municipal District.

Election of Leas Cathaoirleach

Minutes:

Councillor Paddy O’Rourke proposed the nomination of Councillor Caillian Ellis as Leas-Cathaoirleach of Ballinamore Municipal District. This was seconded by Cllr Enda McGloin.  Councillor Ita Reynolds Flynn invited any other proposal for the Election of Leas Cathaoirleach of Ballinamore Municipal District, and no counter-proposal was proposed. Councillor Ita Reynolds Flynn deemed Councillor Caillian Ellis elected as Leas-Cathaoirleach of  Ballinamore Municipal District for the term 2020/2021. 

 

Proposed by Councillor Paddy O’Rourke and seconded by Councillor Enda McGloin 

 

“That Caillian Ellis be elected Leas Cathaoirleach of Ballinamore Municipal District”.

 

Councillor Caillian Ellis thanked the members for the nomination and he accepted the nomination as Leas Cathoirleach of Ballinamore Municipal District. 

 

BMD.73.20

To agree dates and times for the schedule of meetings of Ballinamore Municipal District

Minutes:

Ms Quinn confirmed that it is a matter for Ballinamore Municipal District to decide on the dates and times of their meetings and the fixing of dates and times for meetings of Leitrim County Council would be discussed and agreed at the Annual Meeting. 

 

Proposed by Cllr Paddy O’Rourke and seconded by Cllr Enda McGloin and unanimously resolved

 

“That the meetings of Ballinamore MD take place on the 4th Monday of every Month with the meetings being held at 11 am in Ballinamore.”

 

Councillor Ita Reynolds-Flynn proposed that the next Ballinamore Municipal District Meeting be held in the Council Chamber, Carrick-on-Shannon. 

 

Ms Quinn said that this will be discussed at the Council meeting.
